Texans for Responsible Aggregate Mining

About TRAM

TRAM is dedicated to advocating for the adoption of standards and best practices for the aggregates and concrete industry. As Texas grows, the demand for aggregates - essential materials used in construction, including sand, gravel, and crushed stone - also grows. This has often brought aggregate mining operations in closer proximity to neighborhoods and communities, raising public health and environmental concerns.

TRAM first came together in December 2019 as an informal coalition of grassroots advocates and nonprofit organizations united by a shared concern about the rapid expansion of the aggregate and concrete industry. What began as a collaborative community effort evolved into a more organized movement, and in July 2025, TRAM officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Formalizing as a nonprofit strengthened TRAM’s ability to advocate, educate, and serve as a unified voice for communities across Texas.
