"TCEQ does not regulate quarries"

This was stated by the former TCEQ Chairman Jon Neirmann while testifying the the Senate Natural Resources committee on Sept. 17, 2024.

What does Chairman Nerimann mean? Well exactly that! TCEQ does not regulate blasting, open pits, heavy machinery, truck traffic, noise and light pollution, or any long-term hazards associated with quarries.

What is regulated at a quarry? The rock crusher, stormwater discharges and above ground storage tanks.
